(134) بَابُ فَضْلِ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَى غَيْرِهَا مِنَ الْأَعْمَالِ إِنْ صَحَّ الْخَبَرُ، فَإِنِّي لَا أَعْرِفُ أَبَا فَرْوَةَ بِعَدَالَةٍ وَلَا جَرْحٍ134 Subchapter: Charity is better than other deeds if the report is authentic
Hadith 2433

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ النَّضْرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ ذُكِرَ لِي قَالَ : يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الأَعْمَالَ تَتَبَاهَى ، فَتَقُولُ الصَّدَقَةُ أَنَا أَفْضَلُكُمْ "
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when deeds boast among themselves, charity says, "I am the best among you all."
