(115) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ زَكَاةَ رَمَضَانَ إِنَّمَا تَجِبُ بِصَاعِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ115 Subchapter: Zakat of Ramadan is due by the Prophet’s measure (sa’)
Hadith 2401

لَا بِالصَّاعِ الَّذِي أُحْدِثَ بَعْدُ، إِذِ الصَّاعُ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ كَانَ صَاعَهُ.
Not with the sa‘ that was introduced later, for the sa‘ during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in Medina was his sa‘.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَزِيزٍ الأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلامَةُ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أُمَّهِ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ : " أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُخْرِجُونَ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْمُدِّ الَّذِي يَقْتَاتُ بِهِ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ ، أَوِ الصَّاعِ الَّذِي يَقْتَاتُونَ بِهِ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ كُلُّهُمْ "
Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to give Sadaqat al-Fitr with that mudd with which the people of Madinah measured food grains, or with that sa’ with which all the people of Madinah transacted food grains.
