(108) بَابُ ذِكْرِ فَرْضِ زَكَاةِ الْفِطْرِ وَالْبَيَانُ عَلَى أَنَّ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ عَلَى مَنْ يَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ زَكَاتُهُ، ضِدُّ قَوْلِ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّهَا سُنَّةٌ غَيْرُ فَرِيضَةٍ108 Subchapter: Obligation of zakat al-fitr and that it is obligatory, not just recommended
Hadith 2392
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ حِينَ فَرَضَ صَدَقَةَ الْفِطْرِ : " صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، فَكَانَ لا يُخْرِجُ إِلا التَّمْرَ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying when he made Zakat al-Fitr obligatory. He (peace be upon him) was saying: “(Zakat al-Fitr) is obligatory as one sa’ of dates and one sa’ of barley.” Thus, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to give dates as Zakat al-Fitr.
