Hazrat ‘Ammarah bin ‘Amr bin Hazm narrates that times changed until the era of the rule of Sayyiduna Mu‘awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with them both) came, and he appointed Marwan bin Hakam as the governor of Madinah Munawwarah. He sent me to collect zakat from all the members of the Banu Sa‘d bin Hudhaym family of the tribes of Baliy, ‘Udhrah, and Quda‘ah. So I reached the person (who is mentioned in the previous hadith) while he had become very old. I collected the zakat of fifteen hundred camels from him, which was thirty hiqqah, including their male camel. Ibn Ishaq says: In our opinion, the reason Hazrat ‘Ammarah collected the male camel along with the she-camels was because it is Sunnah that when someone’s zakat is thirty hiqqah, then the male should also be collected along with them.
