(2) بَابُ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ إِيتَاءَ الزَّكَاةِ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ؛ إِذِ الْإِيمَانُ وَالْإِسْلَامُ اسْمَانِ لِمَعْنًى وَاحِدٍ2| Chapter clarifying that giving zakat is part of faith, as faith and Islam are two names for one meaning
Hadith 2246
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّادٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَمْرَةَ الضُّبَعِيُّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ ، وَقَالَ: الإِيمَانُ بِاللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ فَسَّرَهَا لَهُمْ: شَهَادَةُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the delegation of Abdul Qais came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Then he narrated the hadith as mentioned above, and said: "To have faith in Allah." Then he explained its interpretation to them, that it means to bear witness that there is no true deity except Allah and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah." Then he narrated a lengthy hadith.
