Hadith 2182

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when people would see dreams, they would present them before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I see that your dreams have agreed upon the last seven nights. So whoever wishes to search and seek, let him seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last seven nights." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this narration can have two meanings: (1) It is about seeking in the last seven nights. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to know that the dreams of these noble companions in that year had agreed upon the last seven nights, he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last seven nights of that year. (2) The second meaning is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to search and seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last seven nights when the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) became unable to seek Laylat al-Qadr in the complete last ten nights and expressed weakness.
