Hadith 2173

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to consult me along with the senior Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and he used to say to me: "Do not speak until the elder Companions have spoken." So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them about Laylat al-Qadr, and they said, "Surely you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights.'" Then he narrated the incident of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
