It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The person who fasts continuously throughout his life, for him Hell will be made as narrow as this." And the Prophet (peace be upon him) tied a knot in his fingers while making the number ninety. In the narration of Ibn Bazee’, it is mentioned regarding the person who fasts throughout his life, and it is said that he showed by tying a knot of ninety. The Imam says: I heard from Abu Musa, he was saying that Abu Tamimah's name is Tarif bin Mujalid, and he has heard narrations from Muslimah bin Salit and Jahdam Al-Hajimi. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that only Ibn Abi Adi has narrated this hadith from Qatadah through Sa'id in a musnad form. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Imam Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) about the meaning of this hadith, so he said: It is possible that its meaning is that Hell will be made narrow for this person, therefore he will not enter Hell, and apart from this, it cannot have any other meaning, because the person who does more deeds for the sake of Allah and advances in obedience and submission, he will have a higher status, honor, dignity, and closeness with Allah. This is the meaning of Imam Muzani's (may Allah have mercy on him) answer.
