Hadith 2153
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الأَسْلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَسْرُدُ الصَّوْمَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَصُومُ وَلا أُفْطِرُ ، أَفَأَصُومُ فِي السَّفَرِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَفْطِرْ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : خَرَّجْتُ طُرُقَ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ فِي غَيْرِ هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ
Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Amr Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the blessed time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I used to observe continuous fasting. So I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I observe continuous fasting without any break, so should I fast while traveling?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, then fast, and if you wish, then do not fast." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I have mentioned other chains of this narration at another place.
