Hadith 2135

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast to such an extent that I would think he would always fast, and he would stop fasting to such an extent that I would say he will not fast. And he used to fast most often in the month of Sha'ban.
