Hadith 2072
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُمَيْدٍ , عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ , فَفَعَلَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ , فَنَهَاهُ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ . قَالَ : " لَسْتُمْ مِثْلِي , إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي "
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to observe continuous fasting (wisal) until the time of suhoor. So some of his companions also observed wisal, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade them from doing so. One of them said, "O Messenger of Allah, you also do this." The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "You are not like me. I am with my Lord in such a way that He feeds me and gives me drink."
