Hadith 2040
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ , حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، أَنَّ كُلَيْبَ بْنَ ذُهْلٍ الْحَضْرَمِيّ حَدَّثَهُ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : " رَكِبْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفِينَةٍ مِنَ الْفُسْطَاطِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ , فَدَفَعَ , ثُمَّ قَرَّبَ غَدَاءَهُ , فَقَالَ : اقْتَرِبْ , قُلْتُ : أَلَسْتَ تَرَى الْبُيُوتَ ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَصْرَةَ : أَتَرْغَبُ عَنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : لَسْتُ أَعْرِفُ كُلَيْبَ بْنَ ذُهْلٍ , وَلا عُبَيْدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ , وَلا أَقْبَلُ دِينَ مَنْ لا أَعْرِفُهُ بِعَدَالَةٍ
Hazrat Ubaid bin Jubair narrates that I boarded a boat with the companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), from the city of Fustat during Ramadan. Sayyiduna Abu Basrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Are you turning away from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?" Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says, "I do not know Kulaib bin Dehl and Ubaid bin Jubair, and I do not accept the religion (narrations) of a person whose integrity and trustworthiness I do not know, provided that the narration is established."
