Hadith 1997
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رُبَّ صَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ الْجُوعُ وَالْعَطَشُ ، وَرُبَّ قَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ السَّهَرُ "
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Many fasting people there are who gain nothing from their fast except hunger and thirst. And how many are those who stand (in prayer at night) but gain nothing from their standing except sleeplessness (and fatigue).
