Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that this unfortunate person has had intercourse with his wife during the day in Ramadan. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Do you have the ability to free a slave's neck?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Can you fast for two consecutive months?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have the means to feed sixty needy people?" He replied, "No." Then a large basket was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in which there were dates. It is called a zanbeel. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Feed these dates (to the needy) on your behalf." He replied, "Between the two stony edges of Madinah, there is no household more needy than ours." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then feed them to your family."
