Hadith 1944
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْتُهُ مِنْ فِي الزُّهْرِيِّ , سَمِعَ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يُخْبِرُ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : هَلَكْتُ . فَقَالَ : " وَمَا أَهْلَكَكَ ؟ " قَالَ : وَقَعْتُ عَلَى امْرَأَتِي فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ . فَقَالَ : " هَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تُعْتِقَ رَقَبَةً ؟ " قَالَ : لا . قَالَ : " فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ ؟ " قَالَ : لا . قَالَ : " فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تُطْعِمَ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ؟ " قَالَ : لا . قَالَ : " اجْلِسْ " , فَجَلَسَ , فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ , قَالَ : وَالْعَرَقُ هُوَ الْمِكْتَلُ الضَّخْمُ , قَالَ : " خُذْ هَذَا فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ " . فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ أَفْقَرَ مِنَّا ؟ فَمَا بَيْنَ لابَتَيْهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَفْقَرَ مِنَّا . فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَنْيَابُهُ , وَقَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَأَطْعِمْ أَهْلَكَ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said, "I am ruined." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "What has ruined you?" He replied, "I had intercourse with my wife during the day in Ramadan while fasting." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Can you free a slave?" He said, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Can you fast for two consecutive months?" He said, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Can you feed sixty needy people?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Sit down." So the man sat down. Meanwhile, a basket of dates was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). 'Ariq' refers to a large basket. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Take this basket and give these dates as charity." The man said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I give charity to people poorer than us? There is no household between the two rocky sides of Madinah that is poorer than ours." At this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) laughed so much that his blessed canine teeth became visible. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Go and feed your family with it."
