Hadith 1915
حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، نا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، نا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْبَخْتَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَهْلَلْنَا هِلالَ رَمَضَانَ وَنَحْنُ بِذَاتِ عِرْقٍ ، قَالَ : فَأَرْسَلْنَا رَجُلا إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ . فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَمَدَّهُ لَكُمْ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ ، فَإِنْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ " . وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ بِمِثْلِهِ
Abu al-Bakhtari narrates that we saw the crescent of Ramadan while we were at the place of Dhat ‘Irq. He says, so we sent a man to ask Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about it, so Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Verily, Allah the Exalted has spread out the moon for your sight. So if the moon is concealed from you by clouds, then complete the count to thirty.’”
