Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is about to come to you and you are about to receive him." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said this three times. So Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "O Messenger of Allah, is revelation about to descend?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "No." He asked, "Has an enemy arrived?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "No." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) then asked, "Then what is about to come?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, on the first night of Ramadan, Allah Almighty forgives every person who faces this Qiblah." And the Prophet (peace be upon him) pointed towards the Qiblah. Then a man began to shake his head and say 'Wonderful, wonderful.' So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to him, "O so-and-so, has your chest become constricted by this statement? (Did you not like this statement?)" He replied, "No, but I remembered the hypocrite (that he too, being among the people of the Qiblah, would be forgiven)." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, the hypocrites are disbelievers, and the disbeliever attains nothing from this blessed virtue."
