Hadith 1822
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُقِيمَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ ثُمَّ يَخْلُفُهُ , وَلَكِنْ تَوَسَّعُوا , وَتَفَسَّحُوا "
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade that a person should make his brother get up from his place and then sit in that place himself. Rather, you should make room and create space for each other.
