Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the day of Jumu'ah comes, at every door of the mosque there are angels who write down the names of the people according to the order in which they come (to the mosque). The one who comes first is written first, and those who come later are written after. Then when the Imam comes (for the sermon), they close their registers." In the narration of Abdul Jabbar, it is stated: "When the Imam sits on the pulpit, they close their registers." Both narrators say that those angels also begin to listen to the sermon. Therefore, the one who comes early for the prayer receives a reward like that of sacrificing a camel. The one who comes after him receives a reward like that of sacrificing a cow. The one who comes after him receives a reward like that of sacrificing a ram, until the Prophet (peace be upon him) also mentioned a chicken and an egg." In the narration of Makhzumi, the words are "like the one who sacrifices a cow" and "like the one who sacrifices a ram."
