It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Friday is the best day on which the sun has risen. On this day, Adam (peace be upon him) was created, and on this day he was admitted into Paradise, and on this day he was expelled from Paradise, and on this day the Hour will be established." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that regarding the words of this narration, "On this day Adam (peace be upon him) was created" up to "on this day the Hour will be established," the scholars differ as to whether these words were narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or whether he narrated them from Ka'b al-Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him). I have mentioned in Kitab al-Kabir the narrations that clarify which narrators have reported these words from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and which narrators have reported them as the words of Ka'b al-Ahbar. My heart inclines more towards the narration of those narrators who have reported it from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the statement of Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), because Muhammad bin Yahya narrated to us with his chain from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that "The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On this day Adam (peace be upon him) was created, and on this day he was settled in Paradise, and on this day he was expelled from there, and on this day the Hour will be established." Abu Salamah says: I asked Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "(No), rather, Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this to us." Similarly, this narration has been reported by Aban bin Yazid Attar and Shayban bin Abdur Rahman Nahwi from Yahya bin Abi Kathir. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) states that regarding the words of the hadith, "Friday is the best day on which the sun has risen," there is no doubt that these words were narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and as for the words after that, "On this day Adam (peace be upon him) was created," up to the end, the scholars differ. According to some, these are narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and according to others, they are narrated from Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him).
