Hadith 1700
نا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ، كَانَ إِذَا رَأَى النِّسَاءَ ، قَالَ : " أَخِّرُوهُنَّ حَيْثُ جَعَلَهُنَّ اللَّهُ " ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُنَّ مَعَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ يَصْفُفْنَ مَعَ الرِّجَالِ ، كَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ تَلْبَسُ الْقَالِبَ فَتَطَالُ لِخَلِيلِهَا ، فَسُلِّطَتْ عَلَيْهِنَّ الْحَيْضَةُ ، وَحُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْهِنَّ الْمَسَاجِدُ " . وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِذَا رَآهُنَّ ، قَالَ : أَخِّرُوهُنَّ حَيْثُ جَعَلَهُنَّ اللَّهُ . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : الْخَبَرُ مَوْقُوفٌ غَيْرُ مُسْنَدٍ
Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrates that Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), when he saw women, used to say: “Keep them behind, at the place and status where Allah has placed them.” And he used to say: “These women used to form rows with the men of Bani Israel (in prayer). One woman would wear a mold (to appear taller) so that she could be taller for her lover. (As punishment for this crime) menstruation was imposed upon them and it was made forbidden for them to come to the mosques.” And whenever Abdullah saw them, he would say: “Keep them at the place where Allah has placed them.” Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: “This narration is mawquf, not musnad.”
