Hadith 1699
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُسْتَمِرُّ بْنُ الرَّيَّانِ الإِيَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ الدُّنْيَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ ، فَاتَّقُوهَا ، وَاتَّقُوا النِّسَاءَ " ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ نِسْوَةً ثَلاثًا مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ : امْرَأَتَيْنِ طَوِيلَتَيْنِ تُعْرَفَانِ ، وَامْرَأَةً قَصِيرَةً لا تُعْرَفُ ، فَاتَّخَذَتْ رِجْلَيْنِ مِنْ خَشَبٍ ، وَصَاغَتْ خَاتَمًا ، فَحَشَتْهُ مِنْ أَطْيَبِ الطِّيبِ الْمِسْكِ ، وَجَعَلَتْ لَهُ غُلْفًا ، فَإِذَا مَرَّتِ الْمَسْجِدَ أَوْ بِالْمَلإِ قَالَتْ بِهِ فَفَتَحَتْهُ ، فَفَاحَ رِيحُهُ ، قَالَ الْمُسْتَمِرُّ بِخِنْصَرِهِ الْيُسْرَى : فَأَشْخَصَهَا دُونَ أَصَابِعِهِ الثَّلاثِ شَيْئًا ، وَقَبَضَ الثَّلاثَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the world and said: "Indeed, the world is lush, attractive, sweet, and delightful, so beware of its (trials) and beware of the trial of women." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned three women from the Children of Israel: two women were tall and thus well-known and recognized, and one woman was short and not well-known. So, in order to gain fame, she had two (high-heeled) wooden shoes made, and had a ring made, and filled it with the best fragrance—musk—and also had a cover made for it. Thus, when she would go to the mosque or pass by a gathering, she would remove the cover, causing the fragrance to spread and its scent to fill the surroundings. Janab Mustamir says that she would scatter the fragrance with her little finger. He closed three fingers and bent the little finger slightly to show how she used to do it.
