(163) بَابُ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُصَّ بِتَرْكِ أَكْلِهِنَّ لِمُنَاجَاةِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ.163| Chapter on the evidence that the Prophet abstained from eating them due to conversing with the angels
Hadith 1671
نا أَبُو قُدَامَةَ ، وَزِيَادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ أَبُو قُدَامَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، وَقَالَ زِيَادٌ : عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ أَيُّوبَ ، قَالَتْ : نَزَلَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَتَكَلَّفْنَا لَهُ طَعَامًا فِيهِ بَعْضُ الْبُقُولِ ، فَلَمَّا وُضِعَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، قَالَ لأَصْحَابِهِ : " كُلُوا ، فَإِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أُوذِيَ صَاحِبِي " . وَقَالَ أَبُو قُدَامَةَ : عَنْ أُمِّ أَيُّوبَ : نَزَلْتُ عَلَيْهَا ، فَحَدَّثَتْنِي ، قَالَتْ : نَزَلَ عَلَيْنَا
Lady Umm Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) stayed as a guest in our house, so we prepared a special meal for him in which there were some vegetables as well. When that food was presented to the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said to his companions: "You eat, for I am not like you. Indeed, I fear that I might cause discomfort to my companion (Jibreel)." Abu Qudamah narrates that I stayed as a guest with Lady Umm Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with her), so she narrated to me, she said that you (the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him) became our guest.
