Hadith 1654

In the narration of Ma'mar from Imam Zuhri, these words are present: "Indeed, my eyesight has weakened." These words are said about a person whose vision is impaired and weak, even if he can see a little. And it is also possible that he had become completely blind and could not see anything. I have no doubt about this, that later he was completely deprived of sight; he could not see at all. But when he asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) this question, at that time there was some defect in his eyesight (he was not completely blind), to the extent that I became certain from the words of this narration (that indeed, at the time of the question, he was not completely blind). In the narration of Ma'mar, the words are: Sayyiduna 'Itban bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I presented myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "Indeed, my eyesight has weakened, and the flood comes between me and the mosque of my people. (Therefore) I wish that you come and perform prayer at a place in my house so that I may make it a place of prayer for myself." So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "I will fulfill this wish of yours, inshaAllah." Then the complete hadith was narrated.
