(125) بَابُ ذِكْرِ اسْتِخْلَافِ الْإِمَامِ عِنْدَ الْغَيْبَةِ عَنْ حَضْرَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي هُوَ إِمَامُهُ عِنْدَ الْحَاجَةِ تَبْدُو لَهُ125| Chapter on the imam appointing a deputy when absent from his mosque due to a need
Hadith 1625
قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: فِي خَبَرِ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ وَخُرُوجِهِ إِلَى بَنِي عَمْرٍو لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَهُمْ قَالَ لِبِلَالٍ: «إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَلَمْ آتِ فَمُرْ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ» .
Imam Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, says that in the hadith of Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d, may Allah be pleased with him, there is mention of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, going to reconcile between Banu Amr bin Awf. In it, there is also that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Sayyiduna Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him: "When the time for prayer comes and I have not returned, then tell Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer."
