Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) used to pray with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), then would return to his tribe and lead them in prayer. One night, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) delayed the 'Isha prayer, then Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) went back and led his people in prayer and began reciting Surah Al-Baqarah. So a man separated himself from the congregation, prayed in a corner, and left. The people asked him, "O so-and-so, what happened to you? Have you become a hypocrite?" He replied, "I have not become a hypocrite, and I will surely go to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and inform him of the situation." So he went to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) prays with you, then returns and leads us in prayer, and last night you delayed the 'Isha prayer. Then he came and led us in prayer and began reciting Surah Al-Baqarah. And indeed, we water our fields with camels and work with our hands (so we become very tired by night)." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "O Mu'adh, are you a cause of tribulation? Recite such-and-such Surah." We asked 'Amr, Abu Zubair said, "« سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى » and « وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ » recite." So he said, "Yes, he ordered to recite Surahs like these."
