It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the imam is appointed so that he may be followed. Therefore, when he says the takbir for prayer, you should also say the takbir, and when he bows (for ruku‘), you should also bow, and do not differ from him (do not do anything different from him). When he says « سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ », you should say « رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الحَمْدُ », and when he prostrates, you should also prostrate, and do not hasten before him."
