Hazrat Abd Khair (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the courtyard (of the mosque) after performing the Fajr prayer, then said to his servant, "Bring water for ablution for me." So the servant brought a vessel in which there was water and a basin (a vessel for washing hands, like a tray). Abd Khair says, "We were sitting and watching him, so he took the vessel in his right hand and poured water onto his left hand, then washed his hands, then took the vessel in his right hand and poured water onto his left hand, and did this three times." Abd Khair says, "He did not put his hand into the vessel each time until he had washed it several times, then he put his right hand into the vessel, filled his mouth with water (with a handful), then rinsed his mouth and put water into his nose and blew his nose with his left hand three times, then washed his face three times, then washed his right hand up to and including the elbow three times, then washed his left hand up to and including the elbow three times, then put his right hand into the vessel until it was submerged in the water, then lifted it and applied the water that was on it to his left hand, then wiped his head with both hands, then put his right hand into the vessel, then poured water on his right foot and washed it three times with his left hand, then poured water on his left foot with his right hand and washed it three times with his left hand, then put his right hand into the water and filled it with water, then drank it, then said, 'This is the way of ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Whoever wishes to see the way of ablution of Allah's Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), this is the way of ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).'"
