(694) بَابُ الْخُطْبَةِ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ694| Sermon on the pulpit during the two Eids
Hadith 1444
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ فَصَلَّى ، فَبَدَأَ بِالصَّلاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَزَلَ فَأَتَى النِّسَاءَ ، فَذَكَّرَهُنَّ وَهُوَ يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى يَدِ بِلالٍ ، وَبِلالٌ بَاسِطٌ ثَوْبَهُ يُلْقِينَ النِّسَاءُ صَدَقَةً " ، قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ : زَكَاةُ الْفِطْرِ ؟ قَالَ : لا ، وَلَكِنَّهُ صَدَقَةٌ يَتَصَدَّقْنَ بِهَا حِينَئِذٍ ، تُلْقِي الْمَرْأَةُ فَتْخَهَا ، وَيُلْقِينَ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up on the day of Eid al-Fitr and led the prayer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) began with the prayer before the sermon, then addressed the people with a sermon. When Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) finished, he descended (from the pulpit) and came to the women. He (peace be upon him) admonished and advised them while leaning on the hand of Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) had spread out his cloth. The women were putting charity in it. Ibn Jurayj says: I asked Hazrat Ata, “Were they giving the charity of Fitr?” He replied, “No, rather at that time they were giving general charity.” The women were putting their anklets, bangles, etc. (in Sayyiduna Bilal’s cloth).
