(681) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ الْفِطْرِ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ عَلَى وِتْرٍ مِنَ التَّمْرِ681| Recommendation to break fast on Eid al-Fitr with an odd number of dates
Hadith 1429
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، نَا الْمُرَجَّى بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ لا يَخْرُجُ يَوْمُ الْفِطْرَ حَتَّى يَأْكُلُ تَمَرَاتٍ ، وَيَأْكُلُهُنَّ وِتْرًا "
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not go out (towards the Eid prayer place) on the day of Eid al-Fitr without eating a few dates, and he (peace be upon him) would eat the dates in an odd number.
