(638) بَابُ الْخُطْبَةِ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَالْأَمْرِ بِالتَّسْبِيحِ وَالتَّحْمِيدِ وَالتَّكْبِيرِ مَعَ الصَّلَاةِ عِنْدَ الْكُسُوفِ إِلَى أَنْ يَنْجَلِيَ638| Sermon on the pulpit and command to glorify, praise, and magnify Allah with prayer during the eclipse until it clears
Hadith 1372
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَحْرٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْبَكْرَاوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ : إِنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَاحْمَدُوا اللَّهَ ، وَكَبِّرُوا ، وَسَبِّحُوا ، وَصَلُّوا حَتَّى يَنْجَلِيَ كُسُوفُ أَيِّهِمَا انْكَسَفَ " . قَالَ : ثُمَّ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the blessed era of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the sun was eclipsed, so people began to say that the solar eclipse occurred due to the death of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, delivered a sermon to the people, and said: "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. Therefore, when you see an eclipse, glorify Allah « الحَمْدُ لِلَٰه », pray « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ », recite « سُبْحَانَ اللَٰه », and continue to pray until the eclipse of whichever of them is eclipsed becomes clear." Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) descended (from the pulpit) and led two units of prayer.
