Hadith 1371

Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the blessed time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), there was a solar eclipse. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up in a state of anxiety and worry, fearing that it might be the Day of Resurrection. He (peace and blessings be upon him) got up and went to the mosque, and he began to pray standing, with very long standing, bowing, and prostrations. I have never seen him (peace and blessings be upon him) perform such a lengthy prayer. Then (after the prayer) he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, these signs which Allah sends do not occur because of anyone's death or life, but Allah sends them to frighten His servants. Therefore, when you see any of these things, hasten to the remembrance of Allah, supplication and pleading to Him, and seeking forgiveness for your sins from Him."
