Hazrat Tha’labah bin Zahdam (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that we were with Sayyiduna Sa’eed bin ‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) in Tabaristan, so he asked, “Who among you has performed the prayer of fear (Salat al-Khawf) with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?” Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “I have performed it.” Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up (to lead the prayer) and the people formed two rows behind him. One row stood behind him and the other row lined up facing the enemy. So those who were standing behind him, Sayyiduna Hudhaifah led them in one rak’ah, then these people went and took the place of those facing the enemy, and those people came and he led them in one rak’ah as well. And he did not complete (the second rak’ah). In the narration of Abu al-Sha’tha, these words are not present that he did not complete (the second rak’ah).
