(589) بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنْ نَشْدِ الضَّوَالِّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِThe chapter on the prohibition of seeking lost items in the mosque
Hadith 1301
نَا بُنْدَارٌ ، وَأَبُو مُوسَى ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ، نَا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، نَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الأَحْمَرِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا وَجَدْتَ ، إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ " . هَذَا حَدِيثُ وَكِيعٍ
Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) led the prayer, and a man said, "Who has called towards the red camel? (Who has seen it?)" So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "(May Allah make it so) you do not find the camel. Indeed, mosques have only been built for the purposes for which they were built (for worship and the remembrance of Allah)." This is the hadith of Waki’.
