بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ- عَزَّ وَجَلَّ- إِنَّمَا أَوْجَبَ الْوُضُوءَ عَلَى بَعْضِ الْقَائِمِينَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ لَا عَلَى كُلِّ قَائِمٍ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِChapter mentioning the evidence that Allah only made ablution obligatory for some who stand for prayer, not all
Hadith 13
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الدِّرْهَمِيُّ بِخَبَرٍ غَرِيبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلاةٍ ، إِلا يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ ، فَإِنَّهُ شُغِلَ ، فَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِوَضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution for every prayer except on the day of the conquest of Makkah. (On that day) he became occupied, so he combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers with a single ablution.
