(565) بَابُ إِبَاحَةِ الْوِتْرِ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِالْمُصَلِّي الرَّاحِلَةُThe chapter on the permissibility of praying Witr on a mount during travel, wherever it faces
Hadith 1262
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، نَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُسَبِّحُ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ قِبَلَ أَيِّ وَجْهٍ تَوَجَّهَ ، وَيُوتِرُ عَلَيْهَا ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لا يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to offer voluntary prayers on his mount, facing whichever direction it was headed. And he (peace be upon him) would also offer Witr on it, but he (peace be upon him) would not perform obligatory prayers on it.
