جماع أبواب صلاة التطوع قاعداChapters on Voluntary Prayers while Sitting
(558) بَابُ ذِكْرِ خَبَرٍ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صِفَةِ صَلَاتِهِ جَالِسًا حَسِبَ بَعْضُ الْعُلَمَاءِ أَنَّهُ خِلَافُ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ الَّذِي ذَكَرْنَاهُThe chapter mentioning a report about the Prophet's prayer while sitting, which some scholars thought contradicted the previous report
Hadith 1245
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، وَزِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ صَلاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ التَّطَوُّعِ ، فَقَالَتْ : " كَانَ يُصَلِّي لَيْلا طَوِيلا قَائِمًا ، وَلَيْلا طَوِيلا جَالِسًا ، فَإِذَا قَرَأَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ رَكَعَ وَسَجَدَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ ، وَإِذَا قَرَأَ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ رَكَعَ وَسَجَدَ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ "
Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaqiq narrates that I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the manner of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) voluntary prayers. She replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray for a long time standing at night, and he would also pray for a long time sitting. So, when he recited while standing, he would also perform bowing (ruku) and prostration (sajdah) standing, and when he recited while sitting, he would also perform bowing and prostration sitting.
