Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned one day from ‘Alya until, when he passed by the mosque of Banu Mu’awiyah, he entered it and performed two rak’ahs of prayer, and we also prayed with him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) made a long supplication to his Lord, then he turned towards us and said: “I asked my Lord for three things, so He granted me two of my supplications and did not grant one. I asked my Lord that my Ummah not be destroyed by famine, so Allah accepted this supplication. And I asked that my Ummah not be destroyed by drowning, so He also accepted this. And I asked Him that there not be fighting among them, but this supplication was not granted.”
