(535) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْأَخْبَارِ الْمَنْصُوصَةِ وَالدَّالَّةِ عَلَى خِلَافِ قَوْلِ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ تَطَوُّعَ النَّهَارِ أَرْبَعًا لَا مَثْنَىThe chapter on explicit reports contradicting those who claim daytime voluntary prayers are four units, not two
Hadith 1212

وَقَدْ رَوَى شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَنَسٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَافِعِ بْنِ الْعَمْيَاءِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " الصَّلَاةُ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، وَتَشَهَّدْ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَتَبَاءَسْ، وَتَمَسْكَنْ، وَتَقَنَّعْ يَدَيْكَ، وَتَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ، اللَّهُمَّ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ فَهُوَ خِدَاجٌ " حَدَّثَنَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mutlib bin Abi Wada'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer is in sets of two rak‘ahs. After every two rak‘ahs, there is tashahhud. (Before Allah) express your poverty and neediness, and raise your hands with humility and say « اللَّهُمَّ », « اللَّهُمَّ » O my Lord, O my Lord (i.e., make supplication). Whoever does not do these things, his prayer is incomplete."
