Hadith 1166
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّدَفِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَنَّ مَالِكًا حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ : كَيْفَ كَانَتْ صَلاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَمَضَانَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَزِيدُ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَلا فِي غَيْرِهِ عَلَى إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ، يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا ، فَلا تَسَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا فَلا تَسَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي ثَلاثًا ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَنَامُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُوتِرَ ؟ فَقَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، إِنَّ عَيْنَيَّ تَنَامَانِ ، وَلا يَنَامُ قَلْبِي "
Hazrat Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman narrates that he asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the manner of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer in Ramadan. She replied that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not pray more than eleven rak‘ahs in Ramadan or in other months. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray four rak‘ahs—do not ask about their beauty and length—then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray another four rak‘ahs—do not ask about their beauty and length—then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray three rak‘ahs. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, do you sleep before praying Witr?” He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “O Aisha, indeed my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.”
