(496) بَابُ فَضْلِ إِيقَاظِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ وَالْمَرْأَةِ زَوْجَهَا لِصَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِThe chapter on the virtue of a man waking his wife and a woman waking her husband for night prayer
Hadith 1148
نَا أَبُو قُدَامَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، قَالَ بُنْدَارٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلانَ ، وَقَالَ أَبُو قُدَامَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ رَجُلا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى ، وَأَيْقَظَ امْرَأَتَهُ ، فَإِنْ أَبَتْ نَضَحَ فِي وَجْهِهَا الْمَاءَ ، رَحِمَ اللَّهُ امْرَأَةً قَامَتْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّتْ ، وَأَيْقَظَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَإِنْ أَبَى نَضَحَتْ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْمَاءَ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on the man who gets up at night to pray and also wakes up his wife (for Tahajjud). If she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. And may Allah have mercy on the woman who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes up her husband as well. If he refuses (to get up), she sprinkles water on his face (so that he gets up)."
