Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the iqamah for the (obligatory) prayer was given and I had not yet performed the two sunnah (units), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me performing the two sunnah and he forbade me and pulled me and said: "Do you want to pray four rak‘ahs of Fajr?" Abu ‘Amir Salih bin Rustam was asked, "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this?" He replied, "Yes." Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrates from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The iqamah for the (Fajr) prayer was given, so I stood up and began to perform the two sunnah units—then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) caught me and pulled me and said: "Will you pray four rak‘ahs of Fajr?"
