It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that one of the noble wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed ghusl (ritual bath) for janabah, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed wudu or ghusl with the water left over by her. This is the narration of Waki’. In the narration of Ahmad bin Mani’, it is stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed wudu with the water left over by her. In the narration of Abu Musa and Utbah bin Abdullah, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace be upon him) came and began to perform wudu with the water left over by her, so she said, “O Messenger of Allah, this water is left over from my ghusl for janabah.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “Nothing makes water impure.”
