Hadith 1074

Hazrat Mutlib bin Abdullah Makhzumi narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to perform one rak'ah of Witr. So a person came to him and asked him about Witr. He instructed him to perform Witr separately (to pray one rak'ah separately). That person said, "I fear that people will say this is a tailless (deficient) prayer." So Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Do you want to know the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger? This is the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger."
