Hadith 7365
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ بِسْطَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبَّادَ بْنَ حُبَيْشٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لاقِي اللَّهَ جَلَّ وَعَلا ، فَقَائِلٌ مَا أَقُولُ : أَلَمْ أَجْعَلْكَ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا ؟ أَلَمْ أَجْعَلْ لَكَ مَالا وَوَلَدًا ؟ فَمَاذَا قَدَّمْتَ ؟ فَيَنْظُرُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ ، فَلا يَجِدُ شَيْئًا ، فَلا يَتَّقِي النَّارَ إِلا بِوَجْهِهِ ، فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا ، فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ " .
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When any one of you will appear before Allah Almighty, a caller will say: Did I not make hearing and sight for you? Did I not grant you wealth and children? Then what deeds did you do? That person will look in front of him, behind him, to his right, and to his left, but he will find nothing. He will only be able to save himself from Hell with his face. So you people should try to save yourselves from Hell, even if it is with half a date, and if you do not find even that, then try to save yourselves from Hell with a pure word."
