Hadith 7287
Qudamah bin Ibrahim says: I saw Hajjaj beating Abbas bin Sahl during the rule of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair, may Allah be pleased with them both. Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d, may Allah be pleased with him, came to him. He was an elderly man. He had long hair, was wearing an izar, and had taken a sheet. He stood between two rows and said: O Hajjaj, do you not remember the advice of Allah’s Messenger regarding us? Hajjaj asked: What advice did Allah’s Messenger give about you? He replied: The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed that goodness should be done to the good among the Ansar and the bad among them should be forgiven.
