أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَخِي أبِي رُهْمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا رُهْمٍ الْغِفَارِيَّ ، يَقُولُ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الَّذِينَ بَايَعُوا تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ : غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَبُوكاًَ ، فَلَمَّا قَفَلَ سِرْنَا لَيْلَةً ، فَسِرْتُ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ ، وَأُلْقِيَ عَلَيَّ النُّعَاسُ ، فَطَفِقْتُ أَسْتَيْقِظُ وَقَدْ دَنَتْ رَاحِلَتِي مِنْ رَاحِلَتِهِ ، فَيُفْزِعُنِي دُنُوُّهَا خَشْيَةَ أَنْ أُصِيبَ رِجْلَهُ فِي الْغَرْزِ ، فَأَزْجُرُ رَاحِلَتِي ، حَتَّى غَلَبَتْنِي عَيْنِي فِي بَعْضِ اللَّيْلِ فَزَحَمَتْ رَاحِلَتِي رَاحِلَتَهُ ، وَرِجْلُهُ فِي الْغَرْزِ فَأَصَبْتُ رِجْلَهُ ، فَلَمْ أَسْتَيْقِظْ إِلا بِقَوْلِهِ : " حَسَّ " ، فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي ، فَقُلْتُ : اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " سِرْ " ، فَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلُنِي عَمَّنْ تَخَلَّفَ مِنْ بَنِي غِفَارَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ قَالَ : " مَا فَعَلَ النَّفَرُ الْحُمْرُ الثِّطَاطُ ؟ " ، فَحَدَّثْتُهُ بِتَخَلُّفِهِمْ ، قَالَ : " مَا فَعَلَ النَّفَرُ السُّودُ الْجِعَادُ الْقِطَاطُ ، أَوِ الْقِصَارُ ، الَّذِينَ لَهُمْ نَعَمٌ بِشَبَكَةِ شَرْخٍ ؟ " ، فَتَذَكَّرْتُهُمْ فِي بَنِي غِفَارَ ، فَلَمْ أَذْكُرْهُمْ حَتَّى ذَكَرْتُ رَهْطًا مِنْ أَسْلَمَ فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أُولَئِكَ رَهْطٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ وَقَدْ تَخَلَّفُوا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَمَا يَمْنَعُ أُولَئِكَ حِينَ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُهُمْ أَنْ يَحْمِلَ عَلَى بَعْضِ إِبِلِهِ امْرءاًً نَشِيطًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَعَزَّ أَهْلِي عَلَيَّ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّفَ عَنِّي الْمُهَاجِرُونَ ، وَالأَنْصَارُ وَأَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Ruhm Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He is one of those noble companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) under the tree (on the occasion of the Pledge of Ridwan). He narrates: I participated in the Battle of Tabuk with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When we were returning, we traveled throughout the night. I kept traveling close to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I became drowsy. I was trying to keep myself awake. My mount came close to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Because of its closeness, I feared that I might harm your foot which was in the stirrup, so I jerked my mount away, but then at some part of the night, I dozed off. Then my mount collided with the mount of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) foot was in the stirrup at that time. My collision was with your foot. I woke up at that moment. When you said: Be careful. I raised my head. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Pray for my forgiveness. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Keep moving. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to ask me about the condition in which I had left Banu Ghifar behind me. I informed you about them, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: What is the condition of that group who were red in color and had no hair on their faces except for a little on the chin? I informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about them staying behind. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: What is the condition of that group whose color was black and whose hair was disheveled? I mentioned their presence among Banu Ghifar. I did not mention them until I mentioned a group that belonged to the Aslam tribe. I said: O Messenger of Allah! There is a group from the Aslam tribe, those people have stayed behind. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Why have those people stayed behind? When any person among them stayed behind, then someone else should have given him his camel so that he could continue his journey in the way of Allah. To me, it is most disliked that the Muhajirun, the Ansar, or the people of the Aslam tribe, or the people of the Ghifar tribe, should stay behind me.
