أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا بُرَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : لَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ حُنَيْنٍ ، بَعَثَ أَبَا عَامِرٍ عَلَى جَيْشٍ إِلَى أَوْطَاسَ ، فَلَقِيَ دُرَيْدَ بْنَ الصِّمَّةِ ، فَقَتَلَ دُرَيْدًا وَهَزَمَ اللَّهُ أَصْحَابَهُ ، وَرُمِيَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ فِي رُكْبَتِهِ ، رَمَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي جُشَمٍ بِسَهْمٍ ، فَأَثْبَتَهُ فِي رُكْبَتِهِ ، فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا عَمِّ مَنْ رَمَاكَ ؟ فَأَشَارَ إِلَى أَنْ ذَاكَ قَاتِلِي ، يُرِيدُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِي رَمَانِي ، قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى : فَقَصَدْتُ لَهُ ، فَلَحِقْتُهُ ، فَلَمَّا رَآنِي ، وَلَّى عَنِّي ذَاهِبًا ، فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ ، وَجَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ : أَلا تَسْتَحِي ، أَلا تَثْبُتُ ؟ أَلا تَسْتَحِي ، أَلَسْتَ عَرَبِيًّا ؟ فَكَفَّ ، فَالْتَقَيْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ ، فَاخْتَلَفْنَا ، فَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ ، فَقَتَلْتُهُ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : قَدْ قَتَلَ اللَّهُ صَاحِبِكَ ، قَالَ : فَانْزِعْ هَذَا السَّهْمَ ، فَنَزَعْتُهُ ، فَنَزَلَ مِنْهُ الْمَاءُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا ابْنَ أَخِي ، انْطَلِقْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَقْرِئْهُ مِنِّي السَّلامَ ، وَقُلْ لَهُ : يَقُولُ لَكَ : اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، قَالَ : وَاسْتَخْلَفَنِي أَبُو عَامِرٍ وَمَكَثَ يَسِيرًا ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ مَاتَ ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتٍ عَلَى سَرِيرٍ ، وَقَدْ أَثَّرَ السَّرِيرُ بِظَهْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَنْبَيْهِ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ خَبَرَنَا وَخَبَرَ أَبَى عَامِرٍ ، وَقُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّهُ قَالَ : قُلْ لَهُ : يَسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، قَالَ : فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَاءٍ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِعُبَيْدٍ أَبِي عَامِرٍ ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَوْقَ كَثِيرٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ " ، فَقُلْتُ : وَلِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَاسْتَغْفِرْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ذَنْبَهُ ، وَأَدْخِلْهُ مُدْخَلا كَرِيمًا " ، قَالَ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ : أَحَدُهُمَا لأَبِي عَامِرٍ ، وَأَحَدُهُمَا لأَبِي مُوسَى .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Hunayn, he appointed Abu Amir as the commander of an army and sent him towards the tribe of Autas. They encountered Duraid bin Simmah, whom they killed, and Allah Almighty killed his companions as well. Sayyiduna Abu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck in the knee by an arrow, which was shot by a man from Banu Jusham. He held his knee and bent down. I came to him and asked: O uncle, who shot you with the arrow? He pointed and said, "That man is my killer," meaning that this person had shot him. Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I advanced towards that man and reached him. When he saw me, he turned his face and fled. I chased after him and kept saying, "Are you not ashamed? Will you not stop? Are you not ashamed? Are you not an Arab?" At this, the man stopped. Then we confronted each other and fought. I struck him with my sword and killed him. Then I returned and said (i.e., I said to Abu Amir): Allah Almighty has caused the man who shot you to be killed. Sayyiduna Abu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Pull out this arrow. When the arrow was pulled out, water came out of it. He said: O my nephew, go to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and convey my greetings to him, and request him on my behalf to pray for my forgiveness. Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed me as his deputy. After a short while, he passed away. When I returned and presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he was at home, lying on a bed, and the marks of the bed were visible on his back and side. I informed the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about myself and Abu Amir. I submitted to him that Sayyiduna Abu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) had requested: "Say to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): Pray for my forgiveness." The narrator says, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water, performed ablution with it, then raised both hands and prayed: "O Allah, forgive Your humble servant Abu Amir. O Allah, grant him a high rank among many of Your creation on the Day of Judgment." (Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) says) I submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Pray for my forgiveness as well. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: "O Allah! Forgive the sins of Abdullah bin Qais and admit him to a place of honor."
The narrator Abu Burdah (who is the son of Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him)) says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) made one supplication for Abu Amir and one supplication for Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him).
The narrator Abu Burdah (who is the son of Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him)) says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) made one supplication for Abu Amir and one supplication for Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him).
