Hadith 7188
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) had a son whose nickname was Abu Umair. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to ask, "O Abu Umair! What happened to your little bird?" Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The boy fell ill. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) had gone to one of his gardens at that time, and the child passed away. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) got up, bathed the child, shrouded him, applied fragrance to him, and wrapped him in a cloth. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: No one should inform Abu Talhah about this; I will inform him myself. Then Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came home tired; he was fasting. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) applied fragrance for him and got ready for him, and she brought food. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: How is Abu Umair? Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: He has finished his evening meal. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) ate, and after that, he had relations with his wife. Then Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Abu Talhah, what do you think, if a family lends something to another family, and then the owners of that thing demand it back, should the other people return it or keep it? Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Rather, they should return it to them. So Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Hope for reward from Allah regarding Abu Umair. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) became angry and went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him about what Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had said. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah bless you both in your night together.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: So Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) became pregnant with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him). When she gave birth to the child, on the seventh day after his birth, Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me: O Anas, take this child and this container in which there are some Ajwa dates, and take them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he may perform tahneek for the child and suggest a name for him.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I took him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with his legs outstretched. He laid the child in his lap, took a date, chewed it, and then put it in the child's mouth. The child began to suck on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Ansar truly love dates.
