Hadith 7174
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I participated in seven expeditions with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I participated in nine expeditions with Sayyiduna Zayd bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed him as our leader.

Iyas bin Salamah bin Akwa’ narrates from his father: We went to Hudaybiyyah with the Prophet (peace be upon him), then we set out to return to Madinah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Today, our best horseman is Abu Qatadah and our best foot soldier is Salamah bin Akwa’.” Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) gave me the share of both the horseman and the foot soldier.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) participated in this battle as a foot soldier. The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave him the share of a foot soldier, which he was entitled to from the spoils of war, and the share of a horseman was given to him by the Prophet (peace be upon him) from the khums (one-fifth portion). It is not the case that Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) was given the horseman’s share from the Muslims’ portion.
